Simple rules

I am giving myself carte blanche to buy paper and ink, as long as I can fill notebooks.

You're so very special

Still special after all these years, a doll's dream come true, amplified and distorted.  As long as there is true feeling at the heart, the frills increase the aesthetic pleasure.  That is the hoped for effect, at least.

Ironic, not me!

Oh Pushkin,
We can acknowledge your extreme talent and felicity with the language, and your incredible life spirit and energy.
But you are a noted wit, a social butterfly, someone who plays among the shimmering surfaces of life. Your genius is that you are not only that, and your writing recognizes some of the shadows beneath.  But those shadows are not your element.  You use the shadows to enhance the play of light on the surface.  It is enjoyable, it is original, it is not to be idly criticized.

As a bear, however, I do not naturally sympathize with irony and jocularity, even from the originator of snark.  A bear's source of energy is the dark, brooding hibernation time, and any wit is sprinkled only as a seasoning to enrich the meaty, earthy flavors of somber and serious emotions.  This bear's spirit resonates with Gogol far more than Alexander P.

Dreams

Once I dreamed about a Mongolian polar bear, but I could not prove to anyone that it was real.
Once I wrote about a voice that I heard, but I must have heard it in a trance, because the words disappeared like smoke in the wind, and the voice was too beautiful to be real.
I am still seeking the path to the land where I can rediscover these wonders again.

Every music is remembered

Music is diabolically powerful.  Everything you have ever listened to is remembered, preserved somewhere in the ganglia.  Beatles music that I haven't listened to in 35 years has just emerged, perfect in every note, reminding me of this principle.  Does it mean that musicians are devils?  A working hypothesis, at the least.

A Google search on this leads to a lot of Robert Johnson imagery, so let me leave it there.

Looks like a happy dream, at least.

JOY

There is Joy by the Sundays, and there is Joy...
Let's talk about the Sundays first.  This song is perfectly structured, building subtly but inexorably to a tense and memorable climax.  ... "building subtly but inexorably to a tense and memorable climax", that is a phrase that could be applied to so many situations in life.

But back to the Sundays.  A 90% band - one that captured a unique sound and developed an individual style that harmonized with their stylish video presentation.  But what is missing?  I will again get burned by fans for saying this, but they were not original.  They were trying to REcapture something rather than completely doing their own thing.  The end result is that although they are wonderful, you can still live without them, or even forget them.  Poor Sundays, I like them so much, but they do not rise to the highest heights.

True Joy is unlike anything ever experienced before, something that will run directly to the roots of your soul, or heartstrings.  It doesn't have to be "more" - more clever, more stylish, more anything - because it is the REAL DEAL.

More on female singer/songwriters

I have seen a comment that Harmogu was like the "Mongolian Taylor Swift".  But surely that is backwards, and it would be better to say that Taylor Swift was like the "American Harmogu".  But that is wrong too, because Taylor Swift is not actually good enough for the comparison to be apt.
Reminiscing after receiving reminders of past days, I discovered a much more apt parallel.  It turns out that Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" is the highest ranked song performed and written by a woman on Rolling Stone's 500 greatest songs of all time.  Like Harmogu, Tracy can sing a mean cover:
"Stand By Me"

But she is at her best when singing her original, so poetic words, in a voice that is hers and hers alone, not to be compared to anyone else on the planet.
"Talking Bout A Revolution"
Given those incomparables, I am not comparing Harmogu to Tracy Chapman, only suggesting a parallel.  The way forward for a unique poetic and musical talent is just to run with it and never look back.

Harmogu at 2 (Хармогү, миний дэлхий даяар дуртай дуучин үргэлжлүүлсэн)

So today already marks the SECOND anniversary of my discovery of Harmogu.
Amazing how time is flying by (би нисч байна)!  I have to pay tribute again to the special combination of factors that unlocked the dream chamber of my mind, most of all the siren song that is Harmogu's voice.
I hope that the fortune I received yesterday is true.  At least I am trying to follow that path to achieve the level of unique expression that Harmogu has already mastered.
A year ago I wrote a post that described the start of the process that had taken hold of me, but now what I once described a smoldering peat fire has grown deep roots, transforming me as it works its way deeper within.  I was right to be fascinated.  Since then, my fascination has only increased, and the inspiration has been continuous, even as every up and down has generated its own ideas.  Those ideas will eventually become the words that I hope will express the ideal conjured by contact with Harmogu.
